"Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me," said Jesus (Mark 9:37), so we try to make a habit of it. With a combination of professional staff and lots of volunteers, we provide spiritual nurturing, promote fellowship, and emphasize theological education for a lifetime of faithful following of Jesus.
For Sunday School, 9:45 to 10:35 a.m., there's a class for each age group: toddlers, pre-kindergarten through second grade, and third through fifth grades. Please ask someone to help you find the right classroom. Pairs of experienced and enthusiastic church volunteers teach each class. Your child will only be released to you, so please return to their class to pick them up when the bell rings at 10:35.
A professionally staffed nursery for babies and toddlers opens at 9:30 a.m. Little ones from six weeks to four years old are welcome to stay until the 10:50 worship service ends. Please provide your own diapers, bottles, cups, etc. And let us know if your child can have a snack while we're together!
Children are always welcome in worship, and on many Sundays we have special worship programs our youngest worshippers. Wee Worship takes place on the second, third, fourth and occasional fifth Sundays of each month during the 10:50 worship service. Children four years old through elementary school are invited to join volunteers for a kids only time during the sermon. Our whole church family worships together on the first Sunday each month for All-Church Worship, and a special effort is made to keep kids in mind during that service.
Faith, Fun, and Fellowship, also known as Triple-F, invites kids from 3 years through 5th grade to spend Wednesday evenings with their church friends. From 5:30 to 7:00, kids hear Bible lessons, eat dinner, and play games that are designed just for them. Triple-F is seasonal, so be sure to check the church calendar for dates.
The Joyful Noise Choir invites all children and youth from kindergarten through high school to "make a joyful noise." Occasionally, this group leads the church in worship and even takes their talent on the road, visiting local nursing homes or hospitals to perform. Practice is on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 9:45. The choir is on sabbatical until after the holidays.
Our youth group includes middle school and high school kids. They meet with our youth minister for Bible study on Sunday mornings at 9:45. Most Sunday evenings, the youth group meets from 4:30 to 6:00 for a time focused on friendship and discipleship. Regular fellowship gatherings are also part of the youth group's life together. Check the church calendar for everything that's going on!
Vacation Bible School is a vigorous tradition at LFCC. Watch the church calendar for the dates, register your kids early, and volunteer for the most fun week of the year.
Summer camp at Camp Christian gives yearly opportunities for children, youth, and adults to step away from their day-to-day routines and focus more intensely on their relationship with God, to experience Christian community, and to practice living out their spiritual values in a supportive atmosphere. Check out Camp Christian's facilities and programs here. |
